Of course, I love your magazine, I Would not Have Bothered to write you if I did not care. I guess that's the problem with my generation, we do not really care about anything anymore if it Does not concern 'sex (or anything else in the Media That Seems To Be original but it really all just comes down to sex), and it’s sad that this letter will be discarded along with the rest of the .001% of the population that actually care now days…

 I am a Psychology student at Rice University in Houston, TX and I just received this week’s issue with the cover of fetal origins. The photograph impacted me quite significantly. Though I believe it to be very aesthetically pleasing, I don’t think it’s very representative of the message you’re trying to give out. I thought it was an interesting choice of yours to portray the perfect, unattainable pregnant woman to represent all women who might be pregnant one day in their lives and are interested in reading this article. Being a young girl, I do not know much about pregnancy, but I have certainly been around many lucky women whom I have watched since the beginning of their pregnancy until they give birth; and let me tell you this, none of them look like the model you have on the cover there. I think that the majority of women in the world would agree with me on this one. I’m sure there’s no reason why you believe you should be concerned, as you sell millions of magazines a year, but I always loved reading Times Magazine because it was a brief respite from the subliminal messages of superficiality that are inclded in the general media’s perfectionist portrayal of women. It’s upsetting to find this in a magazine whose content is globally recognized as intellectual. Due to the state of education at present, it is evident that girls cannot read between the lines and come to the conclusion that there is a huge gap between the media’s version of reality and reality itself. We all know that young girls aspire, even in unhealthy ways, to be thin, no matter what the costs or consequences are. This is not a matter of being intelligent or not; as human beings, we have the instinctual drive to belong. It is part of our survival mechanism, we are social beings; if we isolate we die. Therefore, I would have assumed it is important to guide the younger crowds exactly where to invest their time and energy in their quest to “belong.” The portrayal of the unattainable as a representation of “normality” is not what I’m paying for when I buy your magazine.  As an artist myself, I understand the importance of beauty and visual attraction, but keep in mind there are billions of girls out there who read your magazine and believe in everything they see and read. If you are not selling sex, clothes, cosmetics or anything that may involve the new posh, underweight beauty, would make a significant difference for you to choose the covers of your magazines in a more thoughtful way? In this same issue you published Aaron Sorking in an interview saying, “I have a hunch we all get told that we’re a loser, and how healthy you are as an adult depends on how much you believed it when you were growing up” (p. 73).  In case you haven’t heard, today, Having a healthy weight Being Considered is a loser. Size 0 is the new size 4 for us ladies. So for the sake of all of us, please do not perpetuate the Oppression and call us losers on the cover of your magazine.

1 - The 4 th edition of the Marathon "2 HOURS NADO "will be held at the Residents Club swimming Parquefield (Blanqui 2120) from the city of Rosario - Santa Fe, on Saturday, October 30, 2010.

2 - The competition will start at 16 hours, ending at 18 hours, with free pool from 15.15.

3 - For reasons of infrastructure may not participate more than 6 teams and they should be integrated by a number greater than or equal to 20 swimmers.

4 - Each team involved with a swimmer per round, with a minimum of 25 meters.

5 - The Marathon will be audited by CRP

6 - For swimmers, the event will include a shirt, a kit of nutrition, sports drink, raffles, gifts from sponsors and be rewarded at 1, 2 and 3 of the test.

7 - The event is of a competitive nature - recreational and reward the top three of the competition.

few years ago, in 2007, I had the opportunity to interview Carlos Cruz Diez for the magazine Literal

Sicardi . The interview would take place when the teacher was available and that given the conditions of travel and the need for their presence in the gallery, we had no set itinerary. María Inés Sica called me one Saturday and I said, "the teacher has time for the interview, come now." I was eating with my family, we just ordered some dishes for the table center, so they stand at present, could be seen as an act of bad taste. Still I tried to be as gentle as possible and with the bit still in the mouth, I stood on the table and ran with my daughter to the car, she would record the entire conversation on video. We arrived at the gallery, Mary Agnes had arranged everything so that the interview would take place where it had made an installation for the chromatic motion is expose in just a few hours, we bathe with their colors during the whole conversation. I started the questions a bit nervous, after all, one does not always have the opportunity to talk with artists of this caliber. Rose Mary Salum: In the distance, as Cruz Diez art can transform not only in Venezuela but in the world, we know that his pictorial language is the result of years of research, to display color throughout its motion. To find suitable solutions that you believe you have to experiment a lot, really hesitate to find a structure to confirm and which form the concepts that one has made the art or what they think may be the art. For me, art was to be painter. I am a painter, I trained as a painter and call myself a painter. And the key instrument of a painter is the color: it was there where I could find some possibilities for changing concepts because the artist, making throughout his career is precisely to find new outlets, new concepts for the spirit and openness knowledge. Because art, as I have said great artists, is knowledge, is true knowledge. The color is not permanent or eternal
as the notion that we in the West that all is eternal. The color is a factor and all my work demonstrates that changing condition, which is constantly changing and ephemeral world of color. RMS

One point of departure for my research were the impressionists, post-Impressionism, Fauvism l, all artists like Delacroix, ue saw the possibility of changing color painting, the art itself. The pointillist and post-impressionism, discovered and put into evidence that the color was changing but precisely in its contradiction, because every generation creates contradictions, impressionism creates a contradiction, establishing the color changing status, but expressing it in a static support. The Impressionist wanted to express the fragility of the light, but did on a stand eternal: not modified. Pointillism did the same. What I tried to do to move beyond Impressionism, was to investigate in a paradox. In this alteration of Impressionism led to a contradiction, like Malevich's White on White. That is, is contradictory to have a metaphysical concept and manifestations in a box. However, these contradictions gave me the clue to find a medium that was also a creator of ephemeral situations. And from that moment, all my work is based on creating situations to give the color ephemeral its true condition is unstable, changeable.

CCD. The line is not an aesthetic element at all, is an element of efficiency. I created dots or circles because the line is essential and concise, only to highlight the metamorphosis, the transformation of color. If these were curved or zig zags, not add anything to the discourse

Everything is moving. Color is not static, it has movement. One of the things I structure my work is not to give significant. The forms are significant. For me the only thing significant is the dialectic established between the viewer and the work. When you look at those straight lines which have no significance, but are the most basic objects, this creates a situation. And this is the situation created by parallel lines which causes the multitude of feelings, perceptions and points of departure for myth-making because they are carriers
an event and are the linchpins of a myth. These objects serve as a kind of light trap to provoke other
notions about color and things.
